Why Do We Have a Free Tier?

It might seem a bit suspicious, right? We're selling your data? Absolutely not. Find out why from our Founder.

Why Do We Have a Free Tier?

Forensic evidence tools have traditionally been built for institutions, not individuals. The software used by law firms and investigators costs thousands of pounds a year - often £5,000 to £50,000 for enterprise licences. That's fine if you're a large firm running dozens of cases. It's impossible if you're a single person going through a divorce.

We think that's fundamentally unfair.

The Playing Field Isn't Level

When evidence matters (custody disputes, harassment cases, employment tribunals) both sides should have access to proper tools. But the reality is that individuals often can't afford what institutions take for granted.

So people make do with screenshots. They download files manually and hope for the best. They present evidence that looks amateur because they didn't have access to professional methods. And sometimes, that evidence gets challenged or thrown out—not because it wasn't real, but because it wasn't collected properly.

Meanwhile, the other side; often a company or a wealthier party, has solicitors with forensic tools on retainer.

That imbalance didn't sit right with me. I wa

Evidence Shouldn't Be a Luxury

We built Proof to make forensic-grade evidence collection accessible. The free tier isn't a marketing gimmick or a stripped-down demo. It's a fully functional tool that produces the same court-ready output as our paid tiers.

You get up to five acquisitions per month, up to 1GB each. That's enough to capture emails, documents, messages—the evidence that matters in most personal disputes. Same encryption. Same chain of custody. Same cryptographic hashes. Same legal defensibility.

If you need more—larger acquisitions, more volume, priority support—the paid tiers are there. But if you're an individual who needs to collect evidence once or twice, you shouldn't have to pay enterprise prices for the privilege.

We Want to Help People

Proof exists because we've seen what happens when people can't access proper tools. We've worked as expert witnesses. We've seen cases where good evidence was dismissed because of how it was collected. We've seen people lose because they couldn't afford to do things the right way.

The free tier is our way of changing that. If you're in a difficult situation and you need evidence, you should be able to get it—properly, professionally, and without a paywall blocking your way.

The Bottom Line

Forensic tools have been gatekept for too long. We're opening the gate I want to shout about it.

The free tier is here because everyone deserves access to evidence that holds up—not just those who can afford enterprise software.
